The Texas Chainsaw Massacre A Family Portrait
"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre A Family Portait" is a documentary that interviews the stars of the Tobe Hooper directed 1974 film "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." The documentary was produced and directed by Brad Shelladay. Interviewed in the documentary are Jim Siedow, Edwin Neal, Gunner Hansen, and John Dugan. 

                            


I originally was asked to be the cinematographer on this but at the time I was in college and requested that I be flown to the location (Texas). They couldn't afford the cost so the director shot it himself. I then was asked to come in and do the rough cut edit which I did and that was followed by having to sit in on the master edit. It was much cheaper to have the documentary edited first as a rough cut offline than do the initial cut in a studio (online) at a higher cost.  I also assisted with the filming of the opening scene in the farm house for the title sequence which included shooting part of it. The hands that grab the chainsaw in the opening sequence belonged to the director which I filmed.

Interesting to note that the farm house we used for the opening title sequence in this documentary was the same one I used in an early film I made "Curse Of The Irate Zombies."
