"
SIEGE OF EVIL" is a film about communication with the dead. Sarah Logan (Desiree Muse) decides to dabble in EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) using a tape recorder to record the voices of the dead from haunted locations. After visiting a old satanic church, she returns home to find threatening voices on the recorder. The forces of darkness are gathering and no one is who they seem to be as the family falls under a Siege Of Evil.
Reviewer Jamie Lisk from Cranked On Cinema.com liked it better than the
$10 million "White Noise" movie from Universal Studios starring Michael
Keaton - which was also about EVP; communication with the dead. Reviewer
states that if this is any indication, Carney has got plenty of talent.
"... The grief
expressed by the characters only adds to the tension and atmospherics of
the film. ...The sense of dread is ever-present...With it's twisty-turning story and uncompromised ending, this film remains suprisingly enjoyable....One of the better indie ghost-stalker flicks I've seen.." See more on this review below.
SIEGE OF EVIL is produced and directed by Jeff Carney. Starring Desiree Muse, Scott Nauman, Amelia Foster, Jerry Wolking, Patti Flaherty, Jim Seward, Barbara Engstrom, Jenaya Carman, and Denise Yoder.

The film was shot at different locations throughout the Quad Cities. It was fun shoot with a very talented cast. We needed a haunted looking location that was in a remote area. Not finding exactly what I wanted I ended up using four different locations to make one. The exterior of the haunted location - the walk up by Sarah, Mark, and Barry was filmed in a field on Big Island (Milan, Illinois) while the exterior of the church was filmed near downtown Rock Island, Illinois at an abandoned church which the owner graciously offered.

The Church is actually located on a busy street with houses all around it so my camera angles had to be carefully and creatively selected to keep the houses/traffic out of the shots as in the film it is suppose to be in a very remote location. The jogger walk up to the Church was also filmed in a entirely different location - a local park. And the main cast walks up to the church from yet another location that is more desolate.
The interior seen in the movie is not the interior of this church. The interior of the church was actually filmed across the street from the exterior where a multi story abandoned school was used for all interiors. I liked the look of that building better. So we filmed two buildings (one inside/one outside), at a park, and at a more desolate location then through editing it all appears as one location in the film. We had the premiere of the Siege Of Evil at the i wireless Center (formerly the Mark of the Quad Cities).

Siege Of Evil is part of the Everlasting Evils DVD set.
The film received the Best Scream Award (Jenaya Carman in her first role) at the 2005 Horror Dance Film festival. At the distributors request, I've already turned in a outtake reel, director commentary track, and stills for use in a upcoming special edition single DVD release.

Review from Jamie Lisk of Cranked On Cinema.com : ".
.I liked this more than White Noise...
Carney
resists the temptation to pull punches as the film draws to a close.
The typically melancholy climaxes that usually result from movies where
good faces off with evil, doesn't factor in here. Not this time. And
what a wonderful surprise too....Sadly Siege Of Evil remains the only
one of his films distributed by Mill Creek Entertainment's Pendulum
Pictures line. It's too bad. If this is any indication, he's got plenty
of talent......With it's twisty-turning story and uncompromised ending,
this film remains enjoyable....Carney handles the idea of a family
dealing with a loved one who is slowly dying of cancer with a surprising
realism. In fact, that aspect of the film, with all of it's stark
ugliness (A scene of the mother vomiting is shockingly powerful) and
trauma, almost overwhelms the remainder of the film which could be a
good or bad thing depending on where you are on the gore hound vs.
horror fan scale. Thankfully, Carney has the good sense to pull back and
re-focus on the ghost story at hand; and the grief expressed by the
characters only adds to the tension and atmospherics of the film. The
sense of dread is ever-present, almost from the second Susan gets a
surprise visit from a certain evil-eyed beauty (Barbara Engstrom) at her
home. For all these reasons, Siege of Evil ranks as one of the better
indie ghost-stalker flicks I've seen."
