Archive Of The Dead
I decided to add this section for fans of the classic horror film Night Of The Living Dead (1968 - directed by George Romero).  Many of the items in my NOTLD collection are some of the more unusual items you will come across including production used items which are rarely seen - as items were rarely saved from a independent film made in 1967.

Besides 5 pages on this site devoted to the Archive of The Dead, you can also visit a special section of my autographed photos from Night Of The Living Dead at The Archive Of The Dead Signed Photo Collection

Night Of The Living Dead was a film made by a talented cast and crew led by George Romero (Director),  Russ Streiner (Producer), John Russo (Writer), and Karl Hardman (Producer).
Here is a glimpse of a few items in my collection for the fans of a great film.

In late Sept of 2007, I was contacted by Marilyn Eastman with the sad news that Karl Hardman had passed away of Pancreatic cancer. If you are a fan of the film and would like to honor Karl in some way - Please take the time and make a donation
(of any amount) to the Animal Rescue League of Western Pennsylvania.
It was an organization that Karl supported.  You can reach the Animal League's website at

Never Before Seen Images - Rare surviving Polaroids taken on the set.

Original Polaroids of Karl Hardman (Harry Cooper) and Judy O'Dea (Barbara) taken on the set of Night Of the Living Dead. Many fans are unaware that  a polaroid camera (see below) was used on set in 1967 to take continuity images such as these two polaroids which were taken for Make-Up Continuity.

Also seen above under the polaroids is an Original Night Of The Living Dead Set Used Make Up sheet for Judith O'Dea (Barbara). After finding this, I later had Karl Hardman confirm that the handwriting on this make-up sheet was his. This is how he kept track of Judy's make up throughout filming. And a Prop hook used during the end credit scene.

Karl Hardman's Polaroid Land camera that was used to take the above polaroids on set during the making of the film.

The two framed paintings that hung in the Night Of The Living Dead house - seen in many  scenes from the film. A plaque was added to each frame after filming by Producer/actor Karl Hardman.

The framed paintings as seen in Night Of The Living Dead.

Another shot of the framed paintings from Night Of The Living Dead.

A Original Night Of The Living Dead one sheet movie poster - this would have been displayed in the theaters when the movie was originally released in 1968.  These posters are rare to find and this particular one I've had signed by 27 of the cast and crew.  This is Version A of this particular poster. Version A has the NSS release information in the middle of the poster at the very bottom. Version B has the NSS release information on the far right corner at the bottom of the poster.

Top part of the poster is signed by Russ Streiner (producer/Johnny), Dick Heckard (The Black Hat posse member), Karl Hardman (producer/Harry Cooper - deceased), Bill Mogush (Zombie), Charles O'Dato (props), Norma Gass (Original House owner), Ella Mae Smith (Zombie), Herbert Summer (gas pump zombie), Charles Craig (TV anchor, radio reporter, zombie, and posse member), Judy Odea (Barbara), Bill Hinzman (cemetery zombie, crew member), George Kosana (Sheriff/crew), and Gary Streiner (crew and posse member from the end of the film)

George Kosana (the Sheriff) signed it with his line from the film "They're Dead, They're
all messed up!"

Keith Wayne (Tom - deceased), John Russo (writer/zombie), Bob Harvey (helicopter), Dave James (last zombie to be shot), Lee Hartman (Zombie), Bill Burchinal (zombie), Rick Catizone (end credits animator for photo montage), Joe Unitas (lighting supervisor),  Marilyn Eastman (Helen Cooper/makeup), Bill Cardille (TV reporter who interviews the sheriff), Steve Hutsko (Cardille's news cameraman in the film), Kyra (Karen Cooper), Regis Survinski (zombie/explosives), and George Romero (Director).

Rare Pittsburgh Pole Poster for Night Of The Living Dead (11x16). Probably the rarest of
Night Of The Living Dead posters. These pole posters were placed on telephone poles/store front windows in Pittsburgh during the original release of the film. This particular one originally belonged to Bill Hinzman (the cemetery zombie from the film and a talented cinematographer).

One of the unique difference to later posters for Night Of The Living Dead occurs on this Pole poster - Image Ten is spelled "Image 10" on this early release Pole poster. This poster would have been used during early October 1968 when Night Of The Living Dead was premiered in Pittsburgh PA in 14 theaters.

Night Of The Living Dead Review movie poster.
This Review poster was mainly sent to Spain and Mexico for use in theaters. At the time the film came out, the distributor was caught off guard by the success and had to rush promotional materials to theaters in overseas markets. This was one of those items.
It has a poor printing quality (dot matrix printing)  when compared to  the regular U.S. one sheet (with green logo) seen above on this page.  One of the sure signs that you have a Review poster sent to Spain/Mexico besides the dot matrix printing is the circular imperfection clearly seen to the right of  Duane Jones head in the poster (just to the left of the wooden board he is holding).

Original French Re-Release poster from the 1970's.  This poster image can usually be found in a smaller under 20 inch size/daybill size. The poster seen above is the large and rare 47x63 inch size. Names are sometimes misspelled on foreign posters. Here Judith O'Dea is spelled O'Deal. The "Un Grand Classique Du Cinema" notice is a sticker which was placed on the poster for the French Release.  Artwork by Landi.

I've always really liked this photo because of Russ Streiner's inscription "Johnny Gone to Sleep."
